JOHANNESBURG – The FIP Promises Tour event held in South Africa had one clear protagonist: the homegrown NextGen. The young talents demonstrated their strength, with 15 of the 16 players who won the eight titles on offer being South African. In the boys’ Under 18 category, Morne Liebenberg/Max Bendel triumphed: after overcoming Hamzah Khan Patel/Abdullah Ally in the semi-finals, they defeated Joshua Greyling-Mohummed Dayyan Chand in the title match.

 

In the girls’ draw, the Under 18 title went to Tasiyah Gani/Aaliyah Hartnik. The two players were crowned champions after beating Basma Moola/Alleyah Omar in the final following a closely contested match that was decided on the final point of the super tie-break (7-5 5-7 10-8). In the Under 16 and Under 14 categories, the titles went respectively to Basma Moola/Imaan Valli and Ayaan Chand/Evelyn Ferguson.
