Day1, Montiel and Santigosa put on a show: victory earns them a clash with Coello and Tapia

CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel P2 got underway with the first four main-draw matches and a major victory for Alvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa, who beat Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi 7-6 6-3 to earn a clash with defending champions Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, scheduled for tomorrow along with all the other round-of-16 matches. There were also winning debuts for Tino Libaak and Gonza Alfonso (6-3 7-5 against Alonso Rodriguez and Flavio Abbate), Maxi Arce and Juan Tello (7-6 7-5 against Tolito Aguirre and Pablo Garcia) and Pablo Lijo and Xisco Gil (7-5 6-3 against Fede Mouriño and Marc Quilez).

 

Today, with matches starting at 12:00 CEST, the first round of the men’s draw will be completed. The eight first-round matches in the women’s draw are also scheduled, bringing the field into line for the round of 16 on Thursday, when the seeded pairs will make their debuts. The Dutch crowd will be cheering on the home players, all of whom will take to the central court: Sten Richters, alongside Sweden’s Albin Olsson, will face Gala/Jensen, followed in the afternoon by Marcella Koek and Stephanie Weterings (against Talavan/Castelló) and Julian Prins and Youp de Kroon (against Hernandez/Castaño).
