Orsi and Dal Pozzo in the spotlight in Perugia. Three new pairs make their debut in the men’s draw

PERUGIA – Italy national team star Carolina Orsi and talented Giulia Dal Pozzo will be among the players attracting attention in Perugia, Italy, as the city prepares for the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup, with the main draw getting under way on Thursday. Perugia hosted a FIP Silver in 2025 and this year will back two of the Italian players who featured at the Mediterranean Games, with both returning home with a medal. At the Padel Arena Fastweb, Orsi and her partner Patty Llaguno are the number 2 seeds, behind Veronica Virseda and Martina Fassio, while Giulia Dal Pozzo is seeded number 3 alongside Nuria Rodriguez, who won in Perugia last year. Also among the leading contenders are the pair who won the FIP Gold in São Paulo just ten days ago: Jimena Velasco and Raquel Eugenio, who are now looking to make it two in a row as the number 4 seeds.

 

There will also be plenty of attention on the men’s entry list, with three new pairs making their debut: Jairo Bautista/Lucas Bergamini, the number 1 seeds, as well as Iñigo Jofre/Juanlu Esbri (3) and Javi Garrido/Juani De Pascual (6). The winners of the 2025 FIP Silver in Perugia are also back, this time with new partners: Javi Garcia will team up with Alex Ruiz (2) and lead the bottom half of the draw, while Javi Barahona will play alongside Maxi Sanchez Blasco (7) in the top half. Among the top 30 players in the FIP Ranking chasing the 150 points on offer to the winners are also Jose Jimenez/Alex Arroyo (4) and Sanyo Gutierrez/Alex Chozas (5). As with all CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments, the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup will also be streamed on the FIP YouTube channel, starting with Saturday’s quarter-finals; Sunday will feature the semi-finals and finals.
