Bellver-Gallardo make their mark: a perfect tournament in Phangan

PHANGAN – Winning a tournament is always special, but doing so while conceding just five games throughout the entire competition is a remarkable achievement. Sandra Bellver and Alba Gallardo did exactly that to claim the FIP Bronze High Velocity Phangan title. In the final, the champions defeated the second seeds, Elsa Terranova and Angelina Neizvestnaya, 6-1 6-1. Their opponents had enjoyed two outstanding months in Thailand, winning titles in Samui and Phuket. In the semi-finals, Sandra Bellver and Alba Gallardo had beaten Ai Liu-Zhai Yu 6-1 6-2.

While the top seeds claimed the women’s title, the men’s competition was won by the fourth seeds. Marc Bernils-Pablo Ladaburu lifted the trophy after defeating Antonio Varo-Jordi Casanova 7-6 6-4 in the final. In the semi-finals, the champions had beaten Guillem Figuerola-Pol Alsina in three sets (6-3 3-6 6-3).
