Home champions, without losing a set. It was a perfect weekend for André Freitas and Julio Julianoti, winners of the FIP RISE in Gravataí, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Sets won, but also dominated, such as the one in the semifinal against the tournament’s number 1 seed Cristobal Martinez and Cristobal Molina, beaten 6-4 6-0. In the decisive match, however, Freitas and Julianoti – the fifth seed on the draw – defeated Paraguayan Adrian Perez and Argentine Gonzalo Daniel Frete 6-4 7-6.
At the Radar Sports in Gravataí, the Brazilian fans cheered for the victory of the two home favourites, who started from number 3 in the seeding. For Julianoti, who divides his time between the padel court and his role as an entrepreneur and who came to the award ceremony with his children, it was his first points in the FIP ranking. “I didn’t know if I would make it, but I have always dreamed of being a champion with my children cheering for me”.
