Claudia and Bea, Arturito and Agus back on the throne

Claudia Fernandez and Bea Gonzalez hadn’t won a title for over two months; Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, on the other hand, had lost their last two finals and were eager to reclaim their crown. Just one week after the FIP World Cup Pairs, the winners have changed: while Paula Josemaría and Ari Sanchez were eliminated in the semifinals, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan were forced to surrender to the world No. 1s. It was an extraordinary weekend for Claudia and Bea, who after defeating the No. 2 seeds in the semifinals, repeated themselves against the No. 1 seeds, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, even closing the match in straight sets (6-1 7-5), on a magical day for Dubai with more than 7,500 spectators in attendance.

WOMEN The women’s final lasted one hour and 32 minutes, with Fernandez and Gonzalez dominating the first set, closed 6-1. The second set was more balanced, with Claudia and Bea – collecting their second straight win in Dubai after their 2024 title, when Bea played alongside Brea – going up a break. When serving for the match, however, Delfi and Gemma fought back, before losing serve again in the eleventh game. “It’s a pleasure to come back here, I have great memories of Dubai and I’m happy to win again – said Bea –. It was a tough week, but thanks to the team we managed to perform at our best”. “The key was playing as a team – added Claudia –. I dedicate this title to my family and to our entire team who helped us achieve this result”. For the Spanish pair, this marks their fourth title of 2025 after Asunción, Malaga and Madrid.

MEN In the men’s final, Coello and Tapia (reaching their 11th title) quickly went up 3-0 in the first set. In the second set, the decisive break came at 4-3 before closing 6-3 6-4 in one hour and six minutes, sealed with an overhead smash by Agus. The world No. 1 pair – who also confirmed their 2024 Dubai title – conceded only one break point throughout the match. “Thanks to everyone involved in organizing this event, we are very happy to win again – said Coello –. The Race to finish the year at No. 1 is very tough, but we work to win matches like this”. “It’s amazing to see so many people supporting us”, Tapia added. “This victory means a lot, especially during a period full of travel while working hard to achieve our goals”.

The stars of world padel will now travel to Mexico for the final Major of the year, ahead of the Barcelona Finals. The Acapulco tournament will, however, be preceded by the FIP Platinum in Veracruz, where the show is guaranteed.
