Day6. This time Paula defeats Ari. Coello-Tapia vs Chingalan: the 32nd Clásico
March 29, 2026
Third head-to-head meeting, third time that Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger have taken Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia to a third set. Riyadh, Cancún (in the final), now Miami. But the world No. 1s always find a way to win: they did so again in Florida, coming back after losing the first set 7-5, closing out the next two 6-3 6-2 and qualifying for their 19th consecutive final on the Premier Padel circuit. An extraordinary pace set by Coello and Tapia, who, after a week in which their main challengers for the title were once again Lebron and Augsburger, will now face their historic rivals. The padel Clasico (the 32nd, with a 21-10 record in favour of Coello and Tapia) will also take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, where Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan — who did not reach the final in Mexico — secured their place on Sunday with a 6-2 6-2 win over Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas.
WOMEN The women’s final, which will open the programme at 16:00 local time (22:00 CET), will be a repeat of last week’s final. Once again, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will face each other, with Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay aiming, as last year, for the Gijón-Cancún-Miami treble—events that in 2025 represented the first three titles for the pair who later climbed to the top of the FIP ranking. If Brea and Triay advanced with a 6-3 6-2 win over Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, on the other side of the net will be Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez, who, after defeating Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero 4-6 6-4 6-4, will look to secure their first Premier Padel title together.
After Carlos Alcaraz, two more tennis champions have appeared at the Miami Beach Convention Center, one of whom has already experienced padel: Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini will take to the court today in the doubles final, but it remains to be seen whether we will one day see them together on a 20×10 court as well.
