Day4. Caldera, Goenaga and the ‘Javis’ target the top seeds
March 27, 2026
FIP No. 18 Bea Caldera and FIP No. 18 Carmen Goenaga, despite being outside the seeded positions at the Miami Premier Padel P1, have reached their first quarter-final of the season, defeating Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso 7-6 6-2. Caldera and Goenaga, effectively the No. 9 seeds in the draw, will face Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero in the quarter-finals, in a schedule that will also feature all the other top pairs in the world: Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay against Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo against Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda against Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez.
MEN In the men’s draw, the only pair outside the top eight seeds to reach the quarter-finals are the ‘Javis’: Barahona and Garcia, after a comeback win of 3-6 7-6 7-5 over Nacho Vilariño and Mario Del Castillo, will face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, following their 7-6 6-4 win over Tolito Aguirre and Alex Arroyo (already faced in the semi-finals in Cancún), will take on Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero; also in the top half, Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz will meet Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger, finalists in Mexico. Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas will face Martin Di Nenno and Momo Gonzalez.
Play at the Miami Beach Convention Centre will begin at 10:00 local time (15:00 CET), with seven matches on the ‘Juan y Bela’ court, dedicated to Juan Martin Diaz and Fernando Belasteguin, and one on Court 1. The tournament enters its decisive phase.
