Abbate and Montiel target a second title in Cyprus
April 23, 2026
Following their victory last weekend, also in Cyprus, Flavio Abbate and Alvaro Montiel, No. 81 and 86 in the FIP Ranking, are aiming for a second consecutive title at the FIP Bronze Cyprus II. The pair, who also won the FIP Bronze in Agadir in February, are positioned in the lower half of the main draw alongside Guillem Figuerola and Roberto Belmont. In the opposite half is the pair leading the men’s draw: Luis Hernández (47) and Enzo Jensen (77). Hernández reached the quarter-finals at the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza last week, while both are seeking their first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Other competitive pairs entered in the tournament include Miguel Morales-Jordi Casanova and Diego Arredondo-Dani Luna.
After an outstanding March in which they secured three titles, Claudia Escacena (78) and Mónica Gómez (68) are aiming to lift their fourth trophy of the year. Their main obstacle is represented by the two players they defeated in the finals of the FIP Bronze events in Viseu and Houten last month: Nati López (69) and Victoria Kurz (77). The latter arrive in Cyprus following their participation in the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza, Egypt. Among the contenders for the title are also Patricia Araus and Ana Cristina Sánchez: the former has won two FIP Bronze titles in Hong Kong this year, while the latter is pursuing her first success of the season on this circuit. Another competitive pair is formed by Cayetana Sánchez Vera and Dora Andrejszki.
