Baku, this time Portillo and Fernandez win together

Just one month ago, in Alexandria (Egypt), Maria Portillo won her first title on the CUPRA FIP Tour 2026, partnering Marta Arellano and defeating Lucia Micaela Fernandez and Rebeca Lopez. In Baku (Azerbaijan), however, Portillo and Fernandez lifted the trophy together, beating Dora Chamli and Anastasia Rhyzova 6-1 6-4. “Thanks to the organisers for such a well-run tournament and for taking care of every detail — the words of the winners —. We felt at home”.

In the men’s tournament, it was a second title in 2026 on the CUPRA FIP Tour for Daniel Luna, who celebrated alongside Albert Trillas — who had lifted a trophy last year in Kuala Lumpur — after winning two marathon matches in both the semi-finals and the final: in the decisive match of the FIP Bronze, Luna and Trillas defeated Tonet Sans and Gustavo Nunes 3-6 6-3 6-0, earning 40 points in the FIP ranking: “We won and we enjoyed it”.
