Cabeza and Gonzalez claim the title in Marrakech
April 20, 2026
The men’s FIP Bronze in Marrakech, Morocco, concluded with the victory of the tournament’s number 2 seeds, Mariano Gonzalez and “Curro” Cabeza, both born in 2007, who defeated Emilio Sanchez and Alberto García in the final in three sets (6-7 6-4 6-3). In the semi-finals, the champions had overcome Alami Mohamed and Fede Mouriño (6-1 6-4). For the winning pair, this marks their first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. This triumph confirms the strong form of a partnership that has only recently begun playing together: the success in Morocco followed their impressive run at the FIP Gold in Almaty, held in Kazakhstan in April, where they reached the semi-finals before being defeated by Momo Gonzalez and Martin Di Nenno. Gonzalez is the first Paraguayan in the world top 100 and, thanks to this victory, has reached number 92 in the FIP ranking, the highest position of his career. In April, Cabeza (75) had already secured another notable result, finishing as a finalist at the FIP Silver in Mumbai alongside Martin Abud. In March of last year, Cabeza also claimed victory at the Premier Padel P2 in Gijón, partnering Diego García.
