Day2. Castelló and Rufo in marathon win; top seeds enter the draw
April 15, 2026
Premier Padel Newgiza P2 gathers pace in Egypt. The round of 16 scheduled for today marks the debut of all the top pairs in the world, with Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán – last year’s champions – closing the programme on centre court against Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz, who eliminated Javi Leal and Pablo Cardona. The main court schedule, featuring six matches, will include the top three seeds in both the men’s and women’s draws, with Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, respectively partnering Andrea Ustero and Bea González, aiming to replicate the title they won together last October.
On the second day of the tournament, a notable comeback was recorded by Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo, who, after a marathon match lasting three hours and 13 minutes, overturned their contest against Marta Caparrós and Julieta Bidahorria, winning 2-6, 7-5, 7-6. Pol Hernández and Guille Collado also confirmed their strong start to the season, with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tolito Aguirre and Álex Arroyo, who had been semi-finalists in Cancún. They will now face Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini as they seek their second quarter-final of 2026, following the one achieved in Mexico.
