A night for the number 2 seeds as ‘Chingalan’ and Josemaria-Gonzalez claim titles

Fede Chingotto, Ale Galan, Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez were the number 2 seeds at the ueno Bank Asuncion Premier Padel P2, but they produced number 1 performances on finals night. For both ‘Chingalan’ and Paulita and Bea, it was their fourth title of 2026. While the men’s titles have come at different stages of the season, Josemaria and Gonzalez extended their remarkable winning streak against Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, defeating them once again in Paraguay after previous victories in Miami, Newgiza and Brussels.

WOMEN In the women’s final, Delfi and Gemma looked on course to return to winning ways for the first time since Cancun. After taking the opening set, however, Brea – also affected by physical problems – and Triay were unable to stop the comeback from Josemaria (who secured the 50th title of her career) and Gonzalez, who prevailed 4-6 6-3 6-3 in two hours and 40 minutes after facing a total of 18 break points compared to nine for their opponents. For Bea Gonzalez, it was a third consecutive title in Asuncion with three different partners: Brea in 2024, Claudia Fernandez in 2025 and now Josemaria. “Playing here brings me luck”, said the Spaniard. “I want to thank the Asuncion crowd for giving us energy. It was not easy to maintain such a high level throughout the week, but I am very happy”. “It was a tough battle”, added Paula. “Congratulations as well to Delfi and Gemma. I want to thank our whole team for the great work we are doing: we are truly proud. Now we move on to Buenos Aires”.

MEN And perhaps in Buenos Aires, where the Argentina P1 will take place this week, Arturo Coello, Agustin Tapia, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will meet again in another final. In Asuncion, the ‘Chingalan’ pair claimed their third consecutive victory versus Coello and Tapia with a 6-3 7-5 in one hour and 17 minutes. The win featured two extraordinary shots from the Argentine, both played from outside the court following X3 attempts, moments that delighted the Paraguayan crowd. “The key is believing in what you are doing”, admitted Galan. “If we had not maintained our level and concentration, we would not have won. We must continue in this direction”. The week was not an easy one for ‘Chingalan’, particularly on Friday during their marathon victory over Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi. “On Friday we survived”, said the Argentine. “But by fighting together, we managed to win this title as well”. It was their fourth title of the season after Gijon, Miami and Newgiza, while Coello and Tapia remain on two titles (Gijon and Cancun).
