Day1. Arce and Tello take revenge. Tournament set to intensify today

Two weeks ago in Brussels, Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero opened their tournament by defeating Maxi Arce and Juan Tello after a marathon match lasting more than two hours. In Asuncion, the two Argentinians gained revenge on the opening day of the Paraguayan P2 at the ueno COP Arena: Arce and Tello won 6-4 7-6 to qualify for the round of 16 scheduled for Thursday. The other three main-draw matches played in Asuncion were won by Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi (6-3 6-4 against Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri), Momo Gonzalez and Martin Di Nenno (6-3 6-4 against Tolito Aguirre and Alex Arroyo), and Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (6-3 6-3 against Pincho Fernandez and Denis Perino).

Today, starting at 10 a.m. local time (3 p.m. CEST), the tournament will intensify with 16 matches scheduled: the first eight matches of the women’s main draw and the remaining eight matches of the opening round in the men’s draw, ahead of the debut of the world’s top pairs on Thursday. Also taking to the court will be young Paraguayan talent Facundo Dehnike (born in 2008) alongside fellow rising player Marcel Font (born in 2007), ready to excite the Asuncion crowd.
