NextGen returns to the court: all four events of the weekend

The young talents of padel will return to the court this weekend to compete, alongside the first historic FIP Promises event in Tbilisi, Georgia, in three additional stages of the FIP Promises Tour: two will take place in Europe, in Viseu (Portugal) and Malmö (Sweden), while another is scheduled in Curitiba (Brazil).

In Portugal, a total of eight draws will be played: Under 12, 14, 16 and 18 in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. In the oldest boys’ age group, top seeds Ian Garcia Calvo and Vicente Soto Herrera will aim for the title. To lift the trophy, the two players will have to overcome strong pairs such as Fabio Da Costa Araujo-Sergio Merchan Gonzalez and Tiago Pereira-Gil Aroso. In the same girls’ category, several pairs will compete for the title, from Sofia Almeida-Amandine Pelle to Margarida Leiras-Leonor Silva Oliveira and Martina Garcia-Sara Rodriguez. At the end of March, Viseu also hosted a CUPRA FIP Tour event: the FIP Bronze Viseu.

The Swedish event will also feature a busy schedule of matches. The NextGen of padel will compete in three boys’ draws (Under 14, 16 and 18) and two girls’ draws (Under 16 and 18). Among the pairs aiming for the title in the latter category are sisters Rishita and Anshika Rajagopal, as well as Italians Federica Mami-Federica Dezii. These two pairs will also compete in the Under 16 category, where Tilde Stromgren-Maja Linge and Astrid Schanger-Wilma Caperyd are also entered. Among the participants in the boys’ Under 18 draw are Eddi Svensson-Filip Sterner, Herbert Finl Udby-Lasse Rich Leiholm and the duo formed by Gustaf Kull and Edvin Linderoth.

At the Brazilian event in Curitiba, six draws are scheduled. Leading the boys’ Under 18 draw are Lucas Bareño Nieto and Nathan De Barros Duval, while the No.2 and No.3 seeded pairs are Luca Formigheri-Frederico De Marco Ringon and Victor Scheibler-Pedro Antonio Zwan Bertin respectively. In the girls’ Under 16 category, top seeds Aurora Paz Candia Gonzalez and Sarah Lamim start as favourites, while in the Under 14 category Lais Malho Comar and Valentina Wienke Dall Agnol will target the title.
