Sardina Serrano–Lillo Albertos pair dominate in Gran Canaria

The FIP Promises BMW Marmotor 26 Aniversario Club La Calzada in Gran Canaria, Spain, has concluded. Daniel Sardina Serrano and Jose Manuel Lillo Albertos claimed the Under 18 boys’ title with a final victory over Alvaro Abad Diaz and Rafael Reyes Moreno (6-2 6-3). In the semi-finals, the champions had defeated Carlos Flores Penate and Ivan del Aguila Navarro (6-4 7-5). Sardina Serrano and Lillo Albertos did not concede a single set throughout the tournament. In the same girls’ category, Erika Mesa Martinez and Elia Pons Plazas secured the title, while in the Under 16 girls’ event, Angharad Suarez Garcia and Ainara Andoin Amengual were crowned champions of Gran Canaria.

 

Also noteworthy was the triumph in the Under 16 boys’ event by Carlos De Bartolome Blasco and Sergio Tomas Coello Gonzalez, who overcame top seeds Hugo Leon Castro and Omar Vera Calderin in the title match in straight sets (6-4 7-5). Over the same weekend in Gran Canaria, the FIP Silver was also contested, with victories for the pairs José Jimenez–Javi Garcia (men’s) and Raquel Eugenio–Martina Fassio (women’s).
