Bolumar Orti wins again: title in Mérida with García Caro

Following victories in April at the FIP Promises events in Marrakech, Morocco, and at the Portuguese stops in Oeiras and Setúbal, Spain’s Javier Bolumar Orti (In the centre of the photo wearing a black shirt) opened the month of May by winning the Under 18 title at the FIP Promises Tour event held in Mérida, Spain, together with compatriot Javier García Caro. The pair, after defeating Sergio Lopez Garcia and David Serrano Gomez in the semi-finals (6-1 6-1), also secured a convincing victory in the final against Luis Melero Ursua and Alejandro Araiz Vazquez (6-2 6-1).

 

In the girls’ draws, Ruth Petit Segarra and Adriana Matoses Dogaru claimed the Under 18 title following their win in the final against Alba Bielsa Trivez and Paula Martin Moleon (6-4 6-3). In the semi-finals, the champions had recorded a notable victory over top seeds Claudia Niesta Sanchez and Paula Navas Benito in straight sets (6-2 7-6). The pairs Amaya Sánchez del Viejo–Naia Santiseban Letamendia and Martina Nuñez Torres and Sofia Jimenez Martinez won the Under 16 and Under 14 girls’ titles respectively.
