The first historic CUPRA FIP Tour event in Malta
May 27, 2026
Over the weekend, international padel will write a new chapter in its global expansion with the arrival of the CUPRA FIP Tour in Malta, where the FIP Bronze Pembroke will be staged. This country is among the 17 new nations that this year will host, or have already hosted, a tournament on the circuit. The main draw will begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday, when the semi-finals and final will be played, with the title at stake. According to data from the International Padel Federation’s World Padel Report 2025, there are already 10,000 amateur players in Malta.
The favourites for the women’s title are the tournament’s top seeds, Julia Polo and Marina Lobo. Polo has already won the FIP Silver in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Danish FIP Bronze in Eidsvoll this year. Lobo, meanwhile, is targeting her first title of the season on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Their main challengers include the pairs Liza Groenveld and Constança Gorito, and Lea Di Battista and Lea Jurkovic. The duo Mafalda Fernandes and Alexandra Silva are also aiming for the title.
In the men’s draw, there will be a battle for the title between Jose Solano and Ramiro Pereyra, and the pair composed of Lucho Capra and Sharlon Pace. Capra has reached the round of 16 this year at Premier Padel events in Miami (P1), Cancún (P2) and Riyadh (P1). Also in focus are Giuseppe Fino and Marcel Font, as well as Alberto Gil and Dimas Sanchis.
