Paredes, Day4. Evergreen Sanyo: chasing a title after four years. Guinart and Virseda target a second consecutive crown
June 21, 2026
Sanyo Gutierrez has helped shape the history of padel: a former world No. 1, at the age of 42 he is now ready to write another chapter in his remarkable career. At the FIP Platinum Paredes in Portugal, Sanyo, partnering Maxi Sanchez Blasco, will today pursue a title as a pair that has eluded him for four years, since his victory in Valencia alongside current FIP No. 1 Agustin Tapia, who was also his teammate in Argentina’s 2024 World Championship-winning national team. The comeback victory (4-6 6-3 6-2) over Javi Garcia and José Jimenez earned him an all-Argentine final against Juan Tello and Maxi Arce, who also came from behind (4-6 6-4 6-3) to defeat Jairo Bautista and Inigo Jofre.
WOMEN If the men’s final will begin not before 14:30 local time (15:30 CEST), the women’s final will open the concluding day at the Pavilhão Multiusos de Paredes. Following their triumph in Tirana, Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda are aiming to win a second consecutive FIP Platinum title. After a 7-6 7-5 victory over Lucia Sainz and Jana Montes, the top seeds will face Italy’s Carolina Orsi and Patty Llaguno, the No. 5 seeds, who reached the final thanks to a 6-2 6-7 6-1 win over Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga (2).
