Di Bari and Bueno claim first CUPRA FIP Tour victory in Osaka

The first career victory on the CUPRA FIP Tour is unforgettable, especially when it comes after defeating the top two seeded pairs. Italy’s Mattia Di Bari and Spain’s Toni Bueno achieved this feat at the FIP Bronze in Osaka, Japan. First, in the semi-finals, they defeated the No.1 seeds Tonet Sans and Gustavo Nunes in a closely contested match decided only by a tie-break in the third set (6-7 7-5 7-6). Then, in the match for the title, Di Bari and Bueno overcame Christina Medina Murphy and Alberto Garcia with a double 6-4 victory.

It was also a dream tournament for Louise Bahurel, European Championship runner-up with the women’s national team, alongside Spain’s Ivet Val. The two players became the champions of Osaka after their victory in the final against Carla Fernandez and Nerea Guerra (6-4 6-0). In the semi-finals and quarter-finals, the champions had defeated, respectively, the pairs of Kotomi Ozawa-Riko Sawanayagi (6-1 6-0) and Anggia Shitta Awanda-Kintan Pratiwi Anwar (6-1 6-1). The winners did not concede a single set to their opponents throughout the tournament. For them, this was their first title of 2026: before this tournament, their best result of the season had been reaching the final of the FIP Bronze in Prishtina.
