Sánchez and Rubini lead the way in Narbona, Godallier–Valenzuela debut in the women’s draw

Three pairs inside the world’s top 100 head the men’s draw at the FIP Silver Narbona. Leading the entry list at the French tournament are Maxi Sánchez and Juani Rubini, returning to the CUPRA FIP Tour after competing at the Italy Major and the Valencia P1. An intriguing battle looms with the second seeds Curro Cabeza and Mariano González, who are targeting their second title together on the circuit after their win in Marrakech in April and their runner-up finish in Gran Canaria in May. Among the 32 pairs competing at Set Padel Narbonne from Friday are also Martín Abud and Marcos González, as well as several French pairs such as Timéo Fonteny and Yoan Boronad (10). Jerzy Janowicz will also feature: the former ATP world number 14 has qualified for the main draw and will compete alongside Belgium’s Maxime Deloyer.

There is significant anticipation in the women’s draw with the debut of an intriguing new partnership. Léa Godallier, France’s number two, will team up with emerging Argentine talent Daiara Valenzuela. The two are already familiar with each other: less than a month ago they met as opponents in the final of the FIP Bronze in Marnes, where Godallier claimed the title against Valenzuela. That encounter laid the foundations for this new partnership. They arrive in Narbonne as the second seeds, while among the seeded pairs are also Lucia Peralta — winner in Marnes alongside Godallier — partnered with Maria Laura Ferreyra, the other finalist in the French tournament. At the top of the draw are Laia Rodriguez and Noa Cánovas (1), fresh from victory at the FIP Gold in Shanghai after also winning the FIP Bronze in Latina at the end of May.
