Day5. Ortega and Calvo win the battle of the future pairs. Paquito still on fire

From morning to night, the Palacio de Deportes José María Martín Carpena delivered a day full of outstanding action as the Premier Padel Andalucia Malaga P1 draw was completed through to the semi-finals, which will be played today from 12:00 CEST. While Marina Guinart and Ale Alonso, playing together for the first time, secured a place in the semi-finals by defeating Ariadna Cañellas and Amanda Lopez, Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo (6) won the clash between future partners, ahead of the changes to the pairings that will take effect from the Pretoria P1, scheduled for the final week of the month. The No. 6 seeds defeated the No. 4 seeds, Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, 3-6 6-4 7-6 after a three-hour marathon and will now face world No. 1 pair Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who advanced with a 6-2 6-2 victory over Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen. Guinart and Alonso, meanwhile, will take on Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez, who progressed after defeating Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga 6-1 6-3.

 

MEN Three of the top four seeds, along with the No. 6 seeds, will contest the men’s semi-finals. For the second consecutive tournament, Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno (6) have reached the last four, securing their place with a 7-5 6-3 victory over Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas to the delight of the fans. To reach the final, Navarro and Di Nenno will have to overcome Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who came from a set down (6-7 6-1 6-4) to defeat Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi, having also beaten Paquito and Martin in Bordeaux. The final match of the day will see Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan face Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger, who defeated Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal (6-3 7-6) and Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo (6-3 6-2) respectively. More excitement is guaranteed.
