From Belgium to Ireland: Cabeza and Gonzalez aim for back-to-back titles
July 15, 2026
Winning to confirm their excellent run of form: Curro Cabeza and Martin Gonzalez arrive at the FIP Silver Dublin, Ireland, with this objective. The pair, the No.1 seeds in the tournament, will approach this CUPRA FIP Tour event with the confidence gained from their victory last week at another FIP Silver tournament, in Koksijde, Belgium. Their main challengers are the second-seeded pair: Antonio “Pincho” Fernandez and Pedro Melendez. The latter is also seeking a double after last Sunday’s triumph in Georgia alongside Sten Richters. Fernandez, meanwhile, won the FIP Bronze Mallorca in January this year. Alongside Cabeza-Gonzalez, there is another pair aiming for back-to-back titles. Guillem Figuerola and Roberto Belmont will arrive in Ireland from China, where they claimed the title a few days ago at the FIP Silver Pingyuan. Also among the leading pairs are Gustavo Nunes-Tonet Sans and Agustin Reca-Victor Tur Checa.
The women’s draw at the Irish CUPRA FIP Tour event is headed by the duo of Leti Manquillo and Noemi Aguilar. Together, these two players have already secured three titles this season, including the FIP Silver Belfast at the beginning of July. This pair will certainly be aiming to lift the trophy, but to do so they will have to overcome strong and competitive opponents, above all Aida Martinez and Ana Dominguez, the No.2 seeds in the women’s category. Rebeca Lopez-Blanca Arriola Cerrejon will also be among the players to watch in Dublin. The pairs formed by Alba Perez-Alba Gallardo are also among the entries. The main draw of this tournament will begin tomorrow, 16 June, and will conclude on Sunday, 19 July.
