From Viña del Mar to Copiapó: Dametto and Calleja dominate once again in Chile

Almost two months after winning the FIP Bronze in Viña del Mar at the end of May, Juampi Dametto and Felipe Calleja have confirmed their excellent connection with Chile by also winning the FIP Bronze in Copiapó. The Argentine pair secured the tournament victory, and their second title in the country, by defeating fellow Argentine Cristobal Martinez and home player Francisco Britos in the final with a double 6-4. In the semi-finals, the champions showcased their solidity by overcoming Teo Gamondi and Luca Santino Cortese (6-4 6-0). Dametto and Calleja dominated every stage of the Chilean stop of the CUPRA FIP Tour: they did not drop a single set to their opponents throughout the tournament. This result also confirms the pair’s excellent form: earlier this month they reached the final of FIP Bronze Baku II, while in June they claimed the FIP Silver title in Dubai.

“I am very happy to have won the title with Juampi in Chile,” said Calleja after the triumph. “We are satisfied with the level we showed in this tournament. We take home important FIP Ranking points.” Dametto also commented on the result: “The truth is that we are extremely happy. We arrived with the desire to win, and we succeeded. We have to keep going like this. Now we’re thinking about next week.”
