Manquillo and Aguilar light up Belfast to lift another trophy together

The FIP Silver R3 Bull Padel Cup in Belfast could not have concluded in a better way for Leti Manquillo and Noemi Aguilar. The pair claimed the title thanks to their victory in the final against Marina Lobo and Claudia Escacena, winning 6-3 6-2. In the semi-finals, the champions had overcome Ana Domínguez and Anna Ortiz in three sets, 3-6 6-3 6-3. This triumph confirms the excellent form of the two winners, who together earlier this year had lifted the trophy at the FIP Silver in Höganäs, Sweden, and at the FIP Bronze in Syracuse, Italy. “We became champions in Belfast! – wrote Aguilar -. We are happy with how we played over the weekend. For having rediscovered the good feelings we had lost and for fighting for every point. Let’s keep working like this. Thanks to the people who supported us”.

Turning to the men’s draw, Daniel Windahl and Simon Vasquez became the kings of this stage of the CUPRA FIP Tour held in Northern Ireland. The pair, after defeating recent finalists of the FIP Bronze in Osaka, Alberto Garcia and Christian Medina Murphy, in straight sets (7-6 6-1), went on to overcome Albin Olsson and Sten Richters in the title match (6-4 6-3). The champions not only lifted the winner’s trophy, but also dominated the tournament: they did not drop a single set throughout the competition.
