Vilariño and Rubio crowned champions in Baku

The objective with which they arrived at the FIP Bronze Baku II has been achieved: Nacho Vilariño and Gonzalo Rubio secured their second doubles title of the season on the CUPRA FIP Tour following their victory at the FIP Bronze in Mumbai. These two players became champions in Azerbaijan thanks to their win in the final against Juan Pablo Dametto and Felipe Calleja in straight sets (6-4 6-2). In the semi-final, the winners of the tournament had overcome Diego Arredendo and Mateo Alvarez 6-3 6-2. Vilariño and Rubio only dropped one set throughout the tournament against their opponents: in the quarter-final won against Julian Prins and Youp De Kroon by 6-7 6-3 7-5.
In the women’s draw, there was victory for the top seeds of this stage of the CUPRA FIP Tour, Daria Kucheriavaia and Barbara Las Heras. These two players lifted the trophy thanks to their win against Costanca Gorito-Steffi Merah (2-6 6-2 6-3). In the semi-final, the winners had comfortably defeated Patri Araus-Polina Yumasheva (6-1 6-2). In 2026, Daria Kucheriavaia and Barbara Las Heras had already secured victory at the FIP Bronze in Abu Dhabi held at the end of May. Las Heras this year reached an excellent round of 16 at the Premier Padel P1 in Valencia.
