Italy, Lorena Vano triumphs on home soil in Chieti

Winning and convincing: Italian player Lorena Vano has become champion in her home country, claiming victory at the FIP Bronze in Chieti alongside Xenia Clasca Vidiella. The newly crowned champions of Italy first defeated Natalia Molinilla and Bo Luttikhuis in the semi-finals 6-0 6-1, before going on to secure a clear win in the final against Caterina Baldi and Ana Varo in straight sets (6-3 6-1). For Vano and Clasca Vidiella, this marks their second title together in 2026, following their victory earlier in June at the FIP Silver in Bandol. These two seasonal triumphs add to those achieved last year at the FIP Bronze in Limerick, Ireland, and at the FIP Bronze in Lucena, Spain.

In a player’s career, there are certain tournaments that remain particularly memorable. The FIP Bronze in Chieti, Italy, will certainly be one of these for Juampi Andrada, as it was in this city that he secured the first CUPRA FIP Tour title of his career over the weekend. He lifted the trophy alongside his compatriot, fellow Argentine Fabricio Parra Heck. The pair, after defeating Giulio Graziotti and Fabian Oviedo in the semi-finals in a closely contested match decided only in the third-set tie-break (6-3 3-6 7-6), went on to overcome top seeds José Luis González and Álvaro Meléndez (7-6 6-2). “Champion of the FIP Bronze in Chieti” said Andrada after the victory. “The truth is that this result in the tournament holds great value for me. I am very happy”.
