Aguirre-Fernandez triumph in Texas. Dubins celebrates second win of the year on home soil

The most anticipated player lived up to the pre-tournament expectations: Tolito Aguirre, together with Antonio “Pincho” Fernandez, became FIP Silver McAllen Texas champion. After defeating Mateo Alvarez-Kevin Uriel Kviatkovski 6-3 6-3 in the semi-finals, the two winners defeated US player Vinny Di Francesco Calderon and Ivo Andenmatten Gudino (3-6 6-3 6-2) in the final, with the title at stake. Aguirre, who moved up to No. 31 in the FIP Ranking this week, had reached a prestigious semi-final at the Premier Padel P2 in Cancun, Mexico, this season. In recent months, he has reached the round of 16 at the P1 events in Malaga and Pretoria. In the women’s draw, Brittany Dubins claimed her second title of the year in the United States – having won FIP Bronze Miami in May – once again partnering Mexican player Camila Ramme. In the final, the champions secured a convincing win over No. 1 seeds Carla Fernandez-Nerea Guerra (6-4 6-3), after defeating Aitana Garcia-Ainize Santamaria (6-1 6-2) in the semi-finals. Last week, these two players had been finalists at FIP Gold San Luis. “Having the opportunity to play a FIP tournament in the United States is always a pleasure” – said Dubins -. “I am proud of our ability to fight and of our team.
