Caparros-Perez, a successful return as a pair: straight to the throne in Westerbork
August 31, 2026
In the Dutch summer, a Spanish pair reached the top in their first tournament back together: Marta Caparros and Agueda Perez, ranked No. 42 and 43 respectively in the FIP Ranking, became FIP Silver Westerbork champions thanks to their two-set victory in the final over the pairing of Eugenia Guimet-Aimee Gibson (6-3 6-4). In the semi-finals and quarter-finals, the two winners had defeated Maria Portillo-Martina Parmigiani (6-4 6-2) and Camille Sireix-Helena Wyckaert (6-2 6-7 6-2). For Caparros, the title won last weekend was her second of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour, following her triumph at FIP Silver Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), while for Perez it was her first success of the year on the circuit. Last month, Perez had reached the round of 16 at the most recent Premier Padel tournament, the P1 London, while Caparros had reached the round of 16 at P1 Pretoria, held at the end of July.
“Westerbork champions!” – said Perez -. “A very positive first tournament together. I am happy to be back on court with you, Marta. Now we are heading home and then, on Tuesday, we will compete together again.” Caparros also commented on the result: “We have accumulated many hours of playing together and achieved our goal. Well done, let’s keep improving.”
A men’s FIP Bronze was also held in Westerbork over the weekend, with the tournament’s No. 1 seeds Andrés Fernández Lancha and Denis Perino claiming victory.
