Alfonso-Libaak in the spotlight in Porto Sant’Elpidio. Ruiz-Rubio ready to challenge for the title
August 19, 2026
A star pairing for a tournament that promises plenty of action on court. The entry list for the FIP Silver 3F Elettronica Porto St.Elpidio, in Italy, features two players accustomed to competing at the highest levels of world padel: top seeds Gonza Alfonso and Tino Libaak, ranked No. 30 and No. 40 respectively in the FIP Ranking. The pair have shown their competitiveness in Premier Padel tournaments: at the recent P1 events in London and Pretoria, they reached the round of 32. Libaak also has a FIP World Championships 2024 title with Argentina on his record, having won the third and decisive match of the final alongside Leo Augsburger. Libaak has also already shown a strong affinity with Italy: last April, he won the FIP Silver in Nola alongside Alex Chozas. On that occasion, the two Argentinians defeated Sanyo Gutierrez and Victor Ruiz in the final. Ruiz will also compete in Porto Sant’Elpidio and, alongside Gonzalo Rubio, will aim to claim the title at the Italian stop of the CUPRA FIP Tour. Facundo Dominguez and Denis Perino, a finalist at the FIP Gold in Shanghai in June, as well as Pepe Aliaga-Alvaro Cepero, will also be among the players in the spotlight. Adri Naranjo-Teo Zapata will also be aiming for a strong performance, as will Italian player Simone Cremona, who will share the same side of the court with recent FIP Bronze winner in Mol, Belgium, Thijs Roper.
The women’s draw is headed by Mónica Gómez and Ana Domínguez. The former has won four CUPRA FIP Tour titles this year (the FIP Bronze events in Houten, Helsingborg, Viseu and Lelystad), while the latter became the FIP Bronze champion in London in May. Their main rivals for the Italian title are the No. 1 seeds: Melissa Martín and Teresa Navarro. In 2026, the latter has triumphed alongside Virginia Riera at the FIP Silver events in Jersey Island and Dubai, as well as at the FIP Bronze events in Agrigento and Bahrain. The pairs of Alba Perez-Lorena Vano and Maria Laura Ferreyra-Camila Fassio will also be aiming to play leading roles. The all-Italian duo of Giorgia Rosi and Clarissa Aima will also be worth watching. The latter has become champion in her home country twice this season: at the FIP Bronze in Montesilvano and at the FIP Bronze in Rovato. The main draw of the tournament will begin on Thursday 20 August and conclude on Sunday 23 August, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.
