Ayats and Chamero arrive in Finland looking to confirm their golden August: the pair chasing a third triumph of the month
August 19, 2026
On 2 August, they lifted the winners’ trophy at the FIP Silver in Collbató, while on 16 August they were crowned champions at the FIP Bronze in El Prat (both tournaments were held in Spain). Now Emilio Chamero and Arnau Ayats have just one objective: to keep winning. The two players are the No. 4 seeds at the FIP Silver Esc Padel II, taking place this week in Finland. Chamero has also won the FIP Bronze in Montesilvano this season, while Ayats has been runner-up at two prestigious CUPRA FIP Tour tournaments: the FIP Gold in Shanghai and the FIP Silver in Caen. Their main rivals for the title are the No. 1 seeds: Antonio “Pincho” Fernandez and Pedro Meléndez, who won the FIP Silver in Dublin together in mid-July and were runners-up at the FIP Bronze in Rovato. Also worth watching is the pairing of Marc Sintes and Coquito Zamora. The latter became European champion with the Spanish youth national team by winning the FIP Junior Euro Padel CUP, a competition held between late June and early July. The entry list also includes Marcos Gonzalez Blanco, winner of last weekend’s FIP Silver in Bali and a six-time champion in 2026, and Santi Pineda.
The women’s draw also promises plenty of action and a number of interesting matches. The women’s draw is headed by Lea Godallier and Daiara Valenzuela, ranked No. 53 and No. 58 respectively in the FIP Ranking. Over the last two months, the pair have won three titles: the FIP Silver events in Narbonne, Porto and Alcala de Guadaira. Another victory would confirm their strong run this season. However, there are several obstacles in their path, the main one being the pairing of Marina Lobo-Marta Arellano. The entry list also features Ana Varo-Marcella Koek and Matilde Minelli-Julieta Bidahorria. The main draw of this Finnish stop on the CUPRA FIP Tour will begin on Thursday 20 August and conclude on Saturday 22 August, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.
