Dutch player Koek aims to triumph on home soil: fourth title of the season in sight

After three titles in Asia this season — the FIP Silver in Pingyuan, China, and the FIP Bronze events in Banten and Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia and Malaysia — Dutch player Marcella Koek will be looking to claim the title on home soil at the FIP Silver in Westerbork. Koek won her first three titles, one alongside Bo Luttikhuis and two with Victoria Kurz. On this occasion, she will take to the court with Ana Varo. The two players are the No. 2 seeds and are in the bottom half of the draw. In the opposite half are the pair leading the women’s draw: Agueda Perez-Marta Caparros, ranked No. 44 and No. 42 respectively in the FIP Ranking. In April, the latter won the FIP Silver in Abidjan.

Another competitive pair entered in Westerbork is Alba Perez and Alba Gallardo. The two have shown excellent chemistry this season, winning two CUPRA FIP Tour events together in Thailand (Samui and Phangan). Also among the pairs to watch are Maria Portillo-Martina Parmigiani, Eugenia Guimet-Aimee Gibson and the duo of Raquel Piltcher and Christina-Styliani Ntanou. The main draw of this tournament will begin on 28 August and conclude on Sunday 30 August, when the semi-finals and final will be played.
