El Prat, Asier Estébanez Estévez show: double victory in Spain

A tournament to remember for Asier Estébanez Estévez. The young Spanish talent (he is pictured centre-left) secured a double victory on home soil, winning the Under 14 and Under 16 categories at FIP Promises El Prat, a stop on the FIP Promises Tour. In the first category, Estébanez Estévez partnered Gustav Berg and defeated the No. 1 seeds Joao Afonso Simoes and Giovanni Miriello in the final (0-6 6-1 10-7), while in the Under 16 category, partnering Ian Garcia Calvo, he prevailed against Rune Keppens and Olivier Granthman in the title match in two sets (6-3 7-5). “An intense weekend, with so many matches and incredible heat, but we made it” said Estébanez Estévez.

 

The boys’ category also saw Javier Bolumar Orti and Izan Ranera Pedrero claim the title. In the girls’ competition, the standout result was the victory of Italians Ludovica Salvi and Benedetta Fappiano in the Under 12 category, where they defeated June Marquina De Grandi and Vera Dominguez Villanueva in the final (6-3 7-5). The two pairs had also faced each other in the group stage, with the Italians again coming out on top (6-3 6-7 12-10).
