Tenerife showcases NextGen talent from Spain, Belgium and Senegal

A celebration for Spain’s NextGen, but also for young talents from Northern Europe and Africa. An action-packed weekend came to an end in Tenerife, where the FIP Promises Los Realejos awarded seven titles to the champions of the future: three in the girls’ draws (Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18) and four in the boys’ draws (from Under 12 to Under 18). In the girls’ competition, the standout performers were Martina Garcia Sanchez-Arevalo and Isabel Martinez Blasco, who completed a double by winning both the Under 18 title (6-3 6-3 in the final against Denmark’s Vestergaard/Skalkam) and the Under 16 title (6-3 6-2 against Suarez Garcia/Santiago Arencibia). In the boys’ draws, Belgium’s Gilles De Peuter and Nicolas Van Brempt claimed the Under 14 title, defeating Denmark’s Angermair/Damgaard Bojesen 1-6 6-3 7-5 in the final. There was also success for young Senegalese player Eyden Karrit, who partnered Manuel Gonzalez Chavez to win the Under 12 title with a 6-3 7-6 victory over another Danish pair, Ospina Roejskjaer/Jorgensen.
