The Mixed event enters the business end: Slovenia, Kosovo, Cyprus and Greece take on the top seeds

Slovenia, Kosovo, Cyprus and Greece. The Mixed padel event at the XX Mediterranean Games — featuring pairs made up of one male and one female player — has completed the opening round, sending four emerging teams through to the quarter-finals, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Parco del Mediterraneo in Taranto. Monday morning saw Slovenia’s Simon Javoršek and Tina Lah overcome Serbia’s Acimov/Mirkovic 6-3 6-1. Kosovo also progressed, with Donika Bashota and Lavdrim Krasniqi defeating Montenegro’s Simonovic/Pelonzi in three sets. Slovenia and Kosovo now join Cyprus and Greece, who had already secured their quarter-final places yesterday.

The latter two teams will open Tuesday’s programme, starting at 10 CEST. On the Central Court, Cyprus’ Maria Siopacha and Sergis Kyratzis will face Portugal’s Sofia and Pedro Araujo, the number 1 seeds, while Greece’s Pavlos-Louis Balafas and Christina-Styliani Ntanou will take on Tunisia’s Dora Chamli and Mehdi Elloumi (4). Italy’s Giulia Dal Pozzo/Marco Cassetta (2) will make their debut on Wednesday against Kosovo, while France’s Louise Bahurel and Dylan Guichard will face Slovenia.
