Alfonso-Libaak claim the title: complete dominance in Porto Sant’Elpidio
August 24, 2026
When a pair are the clear favourites to win a tournament, managing the pressure is not always easy. Yet the Argentine duo of Gonza Alfonso-Tino Libaak, ranked No. 30 and No. 40 in the FIP Ranking, managed to do so by winning the FIP Silver 3F Elettronica Porto St. Elpidio in Italy. The No. 1 seeds, after defeating Facundo Dominguez and Denis Perino (6-4 6-1) in the semi-finals, overcame Pepe Aliaga-Alvaro Cepero (7-5 6-0) in the final. Alfonso and Libaak are among the leading players in world padel: recently, they reached the round of 32 at two Premier Padel tournaments (the P1 events in London and Pretoria). At the Italian stop on the CUPRA FIP Tour, they dominated, conceding not a single set throughout the tournament. In mid-March, Alfonso had reached the semi-finals of the Cancún P2, while Libaak’s victory in Porto Sant’Elpidio confirmed his strong record in Italy: last April, he won the FIP Silver in Nola alongside Alex Chozas. Libaak’s honours also include the major achievement of winning the FIP World Championships 2024 with Argentina, when he triumphed in the third and decisive match of the final alongside Leo Augsburger.
In the women’s event, meanwhile, the No. 3 seeds Alba Perez-Lorena Vano secured the title. The pair had defeated Giorgia Rosi and Clarissa Aima in three sets (3-6 6-3 6-1) in the semi-finals, before overcoming Maria Laura Ferreyra-Camila Fassio (3-6 6-3 6-2) in the title match. Perez has won three CUPRA FIP Tour events this year: the FIP Bronze tournaments in Phangan and Samui, both in Thailand, and the event held in Doha between the end of January and the beginning of February. Vano, meanwhile, had already won a CUPRA FIP Tour title in Italy in 2026, taking the FIP Bronze in Chieti. This season, she has also lifted the trophy at the French FIP Silver in Bandol.
