Asunción hails Yob and Díaz: second South American title of the season secured

An Argentine pair are celebrating in Asuncion. Leonardo Yob and Naim Díaz claimed victory at the FIP Bronze Paraguay III. For both players, this was their second CUPRA FIP Tour title of the year won in South America. In February, Yob was crowned champion of the FIP Bronze in San Antonio, Chile, alongside Franco Dal Bianco, while Díaz, born in 2008, became champion of FIP Bronze Santa Maria in Brazil last April, sharing the court with Santino Contreras.

Yob and Diaz triumphed in Asuncion by defeating home player Facundo Dehnike, who played a key role in Paraguay’s qualification for the FIP World Cup in November, and Argentine Fabrizio Ivan Peiron in the final (4-6 6-1 6-2). After losing the first set, Yob and Diaz responded strongly, winning the next two sets while conceding just three games to their opponents. In the semi-finals, the champions defeated fellow Argentines Francisco Maier-Santiago Rolla 7-5 6-3, while in the quarter-finals they prevailed in three sets against Valentin Cilli and Manu Gayone (6-1 3-6 6-3).
