Fonteny and Moragues off to a winning start in Marnes
September 7, 2026
The partnership between Timeo Fonteny and Nacho Moragues could not have got off to a better start, with the pair claiming the FIP Bronze Marnes II title at the weekend, just outside Paris. An important success for the 19-year-old Frenchman, who defeated Marcel Font and Alejandro Garcia in the final (6-2 4-6 6-1); for Fonteny, the title on home soil is his second of the season after his triumph in Slovenia last June. It is also Moragues’ second title since the start of the year, following his victory at FIP Bronze Castellon at the end of May. “First tournament together and straight away a title! We immediately clicked on court and improved match after match,” said the French number 3 after the victory. “It was a great final, with a more difficult second set against opponents who raised their level. We did well to make a strong start to the third and stay solid until the end. I’m very happy to have won my second FIP title and to have shared this first victory with my new partner!” “A great way to start,” was Moragues’ response. “We’re really happy with the way we played and the confidence we gained match after match.”
In the women’s draw, there was a major celebration for Giulia Sussarello, the first Italian player to reach 10 titles on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Partnering fellow Italian international Emily Stellato, Sussarello defeated another member of the Italian women’s national team, Martina Parmigiani, and her partner Maria Portillo in the final (6-3 6-3). Both winning pairs now turn their attention to the Paris Major: Fonteny and Moragues will make their debut on Monday afternoon against Melendez/Gonzalez in the main draw, while Stellato and Sussarello will compete in the qualifiers.
