Bidahorria-Riera dominate in Nairobi: trophy lifted without dropping a set

NAIROBI – There are tournaments during a season where a pair manages to maintain a high level throughout the entire competition, without any drop in performance. Last weekend, Argentine pair Virginia Riera and Julieta Bidahorria, ranked No. 47 and No. 43 respectively in the FIP Ranking, triumphed at the FIP Silver Nairobi B-active without dropping a single set and conceding just ten games in total to their opponents. The winners of this CUPRA FIP Tour event, after defeating Anastasiia Ryzhova and Blanca Arriola Cerrejon in the semi-finals, overcame Raquel Piltcher and Christina-Styliani Ntanou 6-1 6-4 in the final. With the victory, Riera reaches six titles this season: she had already won the FIP Silver events in Manila, Dubai and Jersey Island, as well as the FIP Bronze events in Agrigento and Bahrain.

There was also a major success in the men’s draw for Adri Naranjo and Jaume Romera. The Spanish pair triumphed 7-5 6-2 over Santi Pineda and Marco Gonzalez Blanco in the final, having defeated the No. 1 seeds at this CUPRA FIP Tour event, Antonio ‘Pincho’ Fernandez and Mario Del Castillo, in the semi-finals. For Naranjo and Romera, this was their second title of the season together, following their victory at the FIP Bronze Rovato. In 2026, Naranjo has also won three CUPRA FIP Tour titles with Pablo Sanchez, while Romera has claimed four other victories on the circuit. “After several matches, we managed to reach the final against two friends. We managed to win,” said Romera. “I am happy with the level we showed throughout the tournament. Adri, great tournament! I hope we can repeat it soon.”
