Lyon, Day4. Stupa-Sanz vs Leal-Guerrero: a stellar final. Caldera-Goenaga face Fassio-Perez for the women’s title

The men’s final at the FIP Platinum Lyon is the one the French crowd could have hoped for. On one side are the number 1 seeds, on the other the number 2 seeds: four players ranked among the world’s top 16, including two in the top 10. Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz, as well as Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal, needed three sets to win their respective semi-finals. Against Juanlu Esbri and Inigo Jofre, Stupa and Sanz came from a set down before closing out a 4-6 6-2 7-6 victory. Guerrero and Leal, meanwhile, won the first set 7-5 against Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo, lost the second 6-2, and then prevailed 6-4 in the decider. Stupaczuk and Sanz will be chasing their second title as a pair after winning the FIP Gold Belgrade, while Leal and Guerrero will contest their fourth final of 2026, hoping to complete a French double after winning another FIP Platinum, in Marseille, in February.

 

WOMEN If the men’s final will start not before 16:30 CEST, the women’s final will open the programme on the final day of the FIP Platinum Lyon at 14:30. The title will be contested by the number 3 and 6 seeds: Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga on one side, Martina Fassio and Agueda Perez on the other. Caldera and Goenaga booked their place in the final with a 6-2 6-3 win over Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova. They will return to a final together for the first time since July 2025 in Bordeaux (Premier Padel P2), while Caldera won the title in Lyon in 2024 (FIP Gold) with Lorena Rufo. Fassio and Perez, meanwhile, conceded just four games in their semi-final, beating Lucia Sainz and Leti Manquillo 6-3 6-1. Having faced each other in two finals in 2026 — the FIP Silver Gran Canaria and FIP Gold Ponta Delgada, with the Argentine winning both — Fassio and Perez will now bid to win a title together.
