Lyon, Day1. Guichard shines in France. Top seeds make their debuts today, with a French derby between Bahurel and Collombon

FIP Platinum Lyon opened with a major result for French Padel: Dylan Guichard and Sweden’s Adam Axelsson came from a set down to defeat number 5 seeds Sanyo Gutierrez and Javi Garrido 3-6 6-4 6-4, securing their place in today’s round of 16. Guichard and Axelsson will face Alvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa, who defeated two more French players, Yoan Boronad and Jeremy Robert. Another French player, Thomas Leygue, also advanced to the round of 16 alongside Spain’s Jesus Moya, thanks to a 6-7 7-6 6-2 victory over Miguel Lamperti and Octavio Alvarez. Today, with matches starting at 11:00 CEST, the top four seeded pairs will also make their debuts. Number 1 seeds Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz will face Alonso Rodriguez and Flavio Abbate, while Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal will take on Alvaro Cepero and Nachi Sager.

 

WOMEN Today will also see Ale Salazar return to action in Lyon. Alongside Aranzazu Osoro, she will begin the defence of her title against Eugenia Guimot and Anastasiia Rhyzova. French wild cards Marie-Amelie Dardaine and Clara Mansart will be the first opponents for Giulia Dal Pozzo and Ale Alonso. There will also be a French derby between Louise Bahurel, partnering Spain’s Ivet Val Lopez, and Alix Collombon, who will play alongside Ksenia Sharifova.
