Ciudad de Sevilla, Day2 Sainz-Manquillo race towards the semi-finals. The titles will be decided today

Experience and youth. Lucia Sainz and Leti Manquillo are racing towards the decisive stages of the FIP Gold Ciudad de Sevilla, taking place on Sunday, with semi-finals in the morning and finals in the afternoon. The number 1 seeds first defeated Sanchez/Araus 6-0 6-2, then followed it up with a 6-4 6-2 win over Rasmussen/Minetti to secure a semi-final against the number 3 seeds, Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova. After beating Cano/Aguila 6-1 6-1, they had to work hard to eliminate Martina Parmigiani and Victoria Kurz (8), winning 6-1 4-6 7-5. In the bottom half of the draw, the other semi-final will feature Virginia Riera and Julieta Bidahorria (4) against Elena De La Rosa and Daniela Portilla, the only pair outside the seeded positions to reach the decisive day.

 

MEN The top three pairs in the men’s draw have all reached the semi-finals. Nacho Piotto and Javi Barahona received a walkover in the quarter-finals following the withdrawal of Arias/Garcia, before beating Miguel Lamperti and Octavio Alvarez in two tie-breaks. Standing between Piotto/Barahona and the final are Alvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa, who beat Ortiz/Garcia before defeating Pincho Fernandez and Mario Del Castillo 6-3 6-2. In the bottom half, Enrique Goenaga and Guille Collado, following wins over Mena/Garcia Trabanco (6-4 6-4) and Gonzalo Rubio and Alvaro Melendez (7-6 6-3), will face Victor Ruiz and Facundo Luis Lopez. The latter began the day with a win over Zapata/Naranjo before following it up with a 6-1 7-6 victory over Jesus Moya and Thomas Leygue.
