Coello and Tapia make it three in a row: after Paris and Rotterdam, Düsseldorf is next. Fernandez and Calvo claim a second triumph
October 11, 2026
Of the two winning streaks that began in Paris and continued in Rotterdam, one goes on, while the other comes to an end. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who beat Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz in the final for the second week running, following their victory in the Netherlands, have claimed their 11th title of the season. It is the second title, meanwhile, for Claudia Fernandez and Martina Calvo, who follow up their London triumph by becoming champions in Düsseldorf too. They bounced back from their defeat in the Roland Garros final with a dominant performance against the very opponents who had beaten them, Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero.
WOMEN The number 4 seeds needed just one hour and eight minutes to win the final. While the first set was decided in favour of Fernandez and Calvo thanks to a break in the fourth game, the second was completely dominated by the Spanish players born in 2006 and 2008. Their 6-3 6-0 victory earned them their first P2 title, following their trophy-winning run at the London P1. There was no way back for Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, who had won in Paris before confirming their form in Rotterdam. “Thank you to everyone who came to support us – said Fernandez -. We are incredibly happy with the victory. We dreamed of playing a final at this level”. Calvo added: “Yesterday we played for three hours, today it took just one, but our focus remained on playing point by point. In Paris, Ari and Andrea played a perfect match; this time, it was our turn”.
MEN In one hour and 23 minutes, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia beat Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz, who were forced to bow to the world number ones for the second week in a row after Rotterdam. Stupaczuk and Sanz had managed to recover the break they conceded at the start, but from 2-2 in the first set, Coello and Tapia won four games in a row. In the second set, Arturito and Agus made the difference by breaking their opponents’ serve when their rivals needed just one more game to force a third set. Instead, the match ended 6-2 7-6 in favour of the Spaniard and the Argentinian. “This is our first title in Germany. We had never won here, so everything we experienced this week has been special”, said Coello. “Padel is growing a great deal in Germany, and you can see that. Congratulations to Franco and Jon for reaching the final, but also to Agus, who once again showed today that he is a true number one”. Tapia said: “We are happy with the way we played this week; it has been a really positive one. Today was a great day for us, and we will keep working to make sure there are more like it”
With the second consecutive tournament now completed, the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour moves from Rotterdam and Düsseldorf to the Allianz Cloud, where the OYSHO Milano Premier Padel P1 gets under way on Monday.
