Rosingana’s fairytale: the Turin player eyes a place in the final at home. “I’ve never felt an emotion like this”

TURIN – The Palavillage in Grugliasco will host the final day of the FIP Gold Mediolanum Padel Cup on Sunday, with the titles up for grabs following the semi-finals in the morning and the finals from 3 pm. Among those in action will be Matteo Rosingana, whose fairytale run in his home tournament continues. Born and raised just outside Turin, he has reached his first semi-final at Gold level on the CUPRA FIP Tour after defeating Spain’s Nicolas Peña and Manuel Ramirez in three sets (6-7 6-4 7-6), the tournament’s other surprise pairing. “It was incredible to see my friends, family and the whole crowd cheering me on. They supported me every step of the way,” said Rosingana. “On top of that, the match remained finely balanced until the very last point. I have never experienced anything like it.” On Sunday, not before 11.30 am, Rosingana and Giuliani will face the top seeds, Javi Barahona and Nacho Piotto, who defeated Pepe Aliaga and Alberto Garcia in the quarter-finals (6-3 5-7 6-4). Manuel Aragon and Albert Roglan also secured their place in the semi-finals with an impressive victory, overcoming Alex Chozas and Juani Rubini (3-6 6-3 7-5) in the evening. They will now face Santino Contreras and Santi Pineda, who defeated Dani Luna and Pedro Melendez (6-4 6-2).

WOMEN’S DRAW – Lucia Sainz and Leti Manquillo will open the final day at the Palavillage. In the bottom half of the draw, Julia Polo and Ana Dominguez also claimed a three-set victory, defeating Petrelli/Campigotto (6-7 6-0 6-2). The fourth seeds will now take on Sara Foguer and Camilla Livioni, who defeated Alonso/Dionisio (6-4 0-6 6-4). The finals will be available to watch via live streaming on the FIP YouTube channel.
