Lyon, Day4. Finals with a “FIP Euro Padel Cup flavor”: Icardo-Guinart vs. Salazar-Calvo and Ruiz-Esbri vs. Alonso-Tello

The FIP Platinum Lyon is ready to crown its champions. Starting at 2 p.m. at the Palais des Sports de Gerland, the finals will decide who takes home 300 FIP ranking points. The day will begin with the women’s final, featuring Tamara Icardo and Marina Guinart against Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo, a clash between teammates from the FIP Euro Padel Cup, which will take place in La Línea de la Concepción (Spain) from Tuesday, October 21 to Saturday, October 25. Guinart and Icardo reached the final after a comeback win (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) over Aranzazu Osoro and another Spanish national team player, Victoria Iglesias (coached by Iciar Montes). Calvo and Salazar, on the other hand, advanced with a straight-sets victory (6-4, 6-2) against Ale Alonso and Lucia Sainz, two more players who will compete for the European title next week.

MEN The men’s final will follow. Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri pulled off the upset of the day, defeating top seeds Martin Di Nenno and Javi Leal in straight sets (7-6, 6-3), and will play for the title against Edu Alonso and Juan Tello, who beat José Jimenez and Maxi Sanchez Blasco 7-6, 6-4 after an incredible 12-10 tiebreak in the first set. Teammates in Lyon, teammates in the FIP Euro Padel Cup, Ruiz and Esbri hope to head to Spain with a trophy in hand.
