Cyprus, Abbate wins his 13th CUPRA FIP Tour title: record equalled

After their success in 2025, Alvaro Montiel and Flavio Abbate have repeated the feat: they have become champions of the FIP Bronze in Cyprus this year too. With this title, Abbate has joined Marco Cassetta, Gonzalo Rubio and José Luis Gonzalez on 13 in the all-time CUPRA FIP Tour titles ranking. The tournament’s No. 1 seeds lifted the trophy after defeating Adrián Marqués and Dani Luna in the final (7-5 7-5). The champions had overcome the pairs Adri Naranjo-Pablo Sanchez (6-3 6-4) in the semi-finals and Marcos Cordoba-Borja Trujillo (6-2 6-4) in the quarter-finals. For the tournament winners, the title claimed over the latest weekend marks their second of the year in this circuit: they won the FIP Bronze in Agadir in February. “What a week, Alvaro – said Abbate after the victory -. We both know how much effort lies behind this result that we have achieved together”.

Sandra Bellver and Melania Merino, ranked No. 61 and 43 in the FIP Ranking, claimed victory in Cyprus after triumphing in the final against Ainize Santamaria and Blanca Arriola Cerrejón (6-2 6-2). In the semi-finals, the two winners – the tournament’s No. 1 seeds – had defeated the French pair of Charlotte Soubrie and Fiona Ligi (3-6 6-2 6-4). Bellver and Merino thus continue a month of April rich in important results: the two players had also won together the FIP Bronze of the Netherlands.
