Kuala Lumpur, Rubio-Piotto the favourites for the victory. Fernandez-Perino the main challengers
April 23, 2026
The CUPRA FIP Tour stops in Malaysia for the FIP Silver in Kuala Lumpur. Leading the men’s draw are Gonzalo Rubio and Nacho Piotto, ranked No. 42 and 56 in the FIP Ranking. In April, the former won the FIP Bronze in Mumbai, while the latter is seeking his first title of the year on this circuit. On this occasion, the Argentine Piotto will not play alongside his usual partner Denis Perino (51). The latter will be present in Malaysia and will share the same side of the court with Antonio “Pincho” Fernandez (62), winner in January 2026 of the FIP Bronze in Mallorca. The two pairs are placed in opposite halves of the main draw and could only meet in a potential final. Also entered are Álvaro Cepero-Tito Allemandi, the FIP Bronze Baku finalists Gustavo Nunes-Tonet Sans, and the all-Dutch pair Youp De Kroon-Julian Prins.
In the women’s draw, the courts of “Cave by PP Padel” will host Julia Polo (51) and Patri Martinez (56), the tournament’s No. 1 seeds, as they seek revenge against the pair who defeated them last week in the final of the FIP Bronze in Kuala Lumpur: Dutch players Marcella Koek (82) and Bo Luttikhuis (91). This time, the two pairs are in the same half of the draw and could face each other in the semi-finals. In the opposite half are Giorgia Marchetti (53) and Léa Godallier (55), aiming to secure their first success of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour after finishing as finalists at the FIP Silver in Dubai in February, along with the duo formed by Camila Ramme-Catarina Santos.
