Portugal, Hernandez and Jensen triumph in Leiria
May 4, 2026
From tears of joy following their victory over Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger in the round of 16 of the Premier Padel P2 in Newgiza, to their first success of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour. Enzo Jensen and Luis Hernandez, No. 69 and 47 in the FIP Ranking, continue their excellent run of form, having triumphed last weekend at the FIP Silver in Leiria, Portugal. The path taken by the champions to the title was flawless: they did not concede a single set to their opponents throughout the tournament. A standout moment for Jensen and Hernandez was their convincing semi-final victory against the top seeds Javi Barahona (25) and Gonza Alfonso (31), with a score of 6-2 7-5. In the title match, the winners defeated the No. 2 seeds Maxi Sánchez Blasco and José Diestro (6-4 6-3). “We have become champions – said Jensen after the triumph – Thank you, Luis, for fighting alongside me. I also congratulate our opponents in the final: reaching this stage of the tournament is never easy. Achieving this result fills me with joy because I can see the efforts from all those training days coming to fruition. Thank you, everyone”.
In the women’s draw, everything went according to expectations: the No. 1 seeds Carolina Orsi (29) and Patty Llaguno (22) were crowned champions in Leiria. After overcoming Laura Luján and Portugal’s Ana Nogueira in the semi-finals (6-2 6-1), the two players secured victory in Sunday’s final against their main rivals and the tournament’s No. 2 seeds, Julieta Bidahorria and Marta Caparros (6-1 6-1), ranked No. 39 and 31 in the FIP Ranking. For both players, this marks their second title of 2026, and their first as a pair: Llaguno had previously won the FIP Gold in Ponta Delgada, also in Portugal, alongside Martina Fassio, while Orsi, partnering Leti Manquillo, had claimed victory at the FIP Silver in Caltanissetta, Italy, at the end of March. Like in the men’s draw, they lifted the trophy without dropping a set. “We are very pleased with how we played this tournament – said Llaguno after the win -. We improved match by match. We leave Leiria with a good memory. I believe the final score does not reflect the level of our opponents, who are playing at a high standard”. Orsi also commented on the result: “I am very satisfied with my work and with what I am doing on the circuit”.
