The NextGen takes to the court in Portugal and Chile

Two tournaments across two different continents. This weekend, the NextGen of padel will compete in two stages of the FIP Promises Tour: one will take place in Antofagasta, Chile, and the other in Albufeira, Portugal.

The matches of the South American event will be played on the courts of Club Llacolen, where eight draws will be held: Under 12, 14, 16 and 18 in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. In the oldest boys’ category, several pairs could contend for the title, from Cristian Garcia-Nicolas Bucelli to Felipe Alberto Quintana-Benjamin Alejandro Delgado. The latter will also attempt to win the Under 16 trophy, where he will compete alongside Martin Gonzalez. Their most dangerous rivals are the tournament’s top seeds, Joaquin Alegria-Tomas Guzman, though Gabriel Salazar-Manuel Jordi Fulla Silva should not be overlooked. In the girls’ Under 16 category, the entered pairs include Martina Lopez-Pascuala Jimenez Nunez and Mariana Fuentes-Piaignacia Guerrero Ugarte.

In Portugal, four boys’ draws (Under 12, 14, 16 and 18) and three girls’ draws (Under 12, 14 and 16) are scheduled. The favourites for the boys’ Under 16 title are the two players leading the main draw: Vicente Soto Herrera and Aleix Baquero Guaita. Challenging them for the title will be two strong pairs, Joao Palma-Goncalo Cunha and Diogo Oliveira-Gustavo Almeida. In the same girls’ category, among the young players entered in Albufeira are Carlota Vale-Bruna Farinhas and Carolina Mascarenhas-Francisca Cravo. On the courts of Padel4Move Albufeira, the boys’ Under 14 competition will feature a challenge between the tournament’s top seeds, Joao Afonso Simoes-Tiago Valente, and Francisco Sa-Enrique Silva Bellorin. Next week, Portugal will host the FIP Silver of Oeiras, a stage of the CUPRA FIP Tour.
