The first historic FIP Promises Tour event in Georgia

This weekend, international padel will write a new chapter in its global expansion with the debut of the FIP Promises Tour in Georgia, where the FIP Promises Tbilisi will take place from 22 to 24 May at the Kustba Padel Club. Georgia is a country where padel is developing rapidly. According to estimates from the FIP Research & Data Analysis Department, there are 15,000 people practising the sport in Georgia. In addition, the Georgian National Padel Federation organises numerous tournaments, both men’s and women’s, with more than 200 players taking part in each event.

Among the entries in the boys’ Under 16 draw at the FIP Promises Tbilisi are three home pairs: Erekle Kevanishvili-Sandro Bochrishvili, Nikoloz Ejoshvili-Aleksandre Bjalava and Demetre Enuqidze-Saba Chiwvanaia. In this age category there will also be the Kazakh duo Islam Duissengazin-Arnur Tursynkhan. In the Under 18 category, several leading pairs from Georgia’s NextGen will compete, including Andria Darchia-Luka Edisherashvili and Giorgi Abashidze-Archil Charkhalashvili.

In 2025, Georgia successfully hosted a CUPRA FIP Tour event: the FIP Bronze Tbilisi, won by Alejandro Jerez-Manuel Castaño in the men’s draw and Paula Ferran-Elena De La Rosa in the women’s draw. This FIP Promises Tour event represents a further step in the worldwide expansion of the sport.
